I have a new respect for referees, starting today. this afternoon I had my first experience as a soccer ref. you know the scene in cartoons where a pile of creatures are mauling each other in a jumble of arms, feet, and dust? now give the jumble blue and yellow jerseys and add the high-pitched screaming of 22 ten year olds. every once in a while, a soccer ball flys out of the middle of the heap at a strange angle and the mass of human follows it. as acting God, I have to divine which set of cherubs last touched the ball and pull them all apart from it long enough for a throw-in to be demolished. when in doubt, blow the whistle, grab the ball, and sprint toward the nearest pizza pizza.


I have a tentative Release from Bondage date: december 20th, 5pm. that's okay. I didn't really want a Christmas vacation anyway...
