the people of sheffield were awestruck. as minutes turned to hours and the streets remained dry, they turned their eyes to the heavens. trumpets sounded, organ pipes shuddered and four hundred thousand people fell to their knees in amazement. the sun was shining.
people flooded the streets. children laughed and grandmothers wept. statues threw out their arms in welcome.
many were thankful, some were frightened, and a few clung to what they knew best. "look, daddy! there is still some water left in the world."
some rushed to the nearest phone booth, eager to share the good news.
among them all, a girl named bish ran around madly with her camera, and all was right with the world.
