entertainment, 21st century style.

our ancestors gathered by the hundreds or thousands to make human sacrifices and watch men fight to the death. today, we are more refined. we are ethical. we are civilized. we savour bloodshed from the comfort of our living rooms, with the luxury of pause, volume and rewind buttons.

animals kill each other. humans, suffering from an advanced case of evolution, regard such behaviour as primitive, crude, uncivilized. apparently, we are excited only by more sophistocated forms of entertainment. apparently, we would rather watch as dead female flesh is harvested for its odors.

male human specimen, stranger to all emotion, creeps through dark alleys clubbing beautiful women and distilling the oils from their skin post-mortem to preserve their scents. from these scents is born the most beautiful, mind-altering, orgy-intiating perfume in the whole world. and then they eat him.

what's most intriguing? you leave the theater with a sense of satisfaction. of course he had to collect scents. of course he had to be eaten. it all makes sense.

watch perfume. you will never think of cannibalism or your nose the same way.

I'm so relieved that other people liked it. I was starting to worry that I was perhaps more of a sick degenerate that I initially thought. I think I want the DVD. Does that make me a bad person?
