yesterday morning I went outside to rake leaves. the sky was blue and the sun was shining and I didn't get to rake any leaves last year, so now I'm making up for it. that, however, was my first mistake.

I'd gotten all my leaf-piles past the sidewalk and was pulling them down to the street, when a random male I'd never seen before walked by and said hello. his exact words were "are you tired?" I responded, since I am a polite individual and have been taught to answer questions addressed to me. I told him I was a little bit tired because I was, in fact, a little bit tired. that was my second mistake.

he asked if he could finish the raking for me. I said no, since I am perfectly capable of doing my own raking. he asked, then, if I played any sports, how old I was, where I went to school, who was the lucky man, and since there is no lucky man, would I please go out with him? I laughed, but apparently he was serious. and to prove that he was serious, he was going to finish raking my leaves. so that's what he did. then he offered to sweep the driveway and wash the windows and he said he'd come back tomorrow to rake the leaves again if I wanted him to.

no, I didn't want him to. I already had the panic in my stomach that comes from exchanging more than 2 syllables with a stranger and an overwhelming urge to hide in my cave for two days straight. so instead of helping me with the housework, he brought me a flower.

I am still puzzled and my parental units haven't stopped laughing.

OMG! you got picked up by a random stranger! that's actually kind of awesome. i believe you should actually talk to this person no matter how much it pains you. he gets +1000 points for just having the nerve to do that.

although... -500 for assuming you couldn't rake up the leaves yourself.

strangely, the same thing happened to me outside the library two weeks ago - can you believe it?!?!?
